We provide Medicare wellness visits at JW Family Medicine in Fulshear, TX. Our goal is to get people to participate and keep up with their visits. Each person receives an annual visit that’s covered by Medicare, meaning you won’t have to pay for it out of pocket.
The reason we recommend these visits to JW Family Medicine is that they include a lot more than most people think. It’s like an annual check-up that includes more services like vaccines. If you have Medicare part B, then you’re eligible for the Medicare wellness visit.
There are plenty of things included in the Medicare wellness visits. For starters, we’ll measure your weight, height, and blood pressure to check for any irregularities. A calculation of BMI or body mass index using your weight and height will also be performed. Advice will be given to those who are overweight or underweight on how they can reach their target BMI.
Screenings and vaccines like the flu and pneumococcal shots are included in the visit if you’re due to receive them. Additionally, a simple vision test will be done to assess your eyesight and whether or not you might need glasses. Your risk of depression will be assessed during the visit based on current guidelines.
At the end of the visit, we’ll give you a document stating everything that was done during the visit. If we recommend further tests or screenings, we’ll document them too.
There’s very little you need to do in terms of preparation for your visit. The important thing is to know when you’re eligible for it if you’re on Medicare plan B. If you have any medical and immunization records, then you should bring them with you. Bringing a list of any prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and supplements that you’re taking is also recommended.
Medicare wellness visits are entirely for your benefit. Those who qualify for them should certainly take advantage. At JW Family Health, we’ll make sure you’re taken care of, and all your medical needs are met.
